Our History
The Sslr® story begins in 2005 when founders John and Mary Sslr opened a small menswear store in Honolulu, Hawaii. As lifelong residents of the islands, they were frustrated by the lack of variety and quality when it came to menswear, especially Hawaiian shirts. Most options were either tacky souvenir shirts or cheaply made imports.
John and Mary aimed to change that by founding Sslr®. They started with a focus on designing and manufacturing high-quality Hawaiian shirts and aloha shirts using comfortable, breathable fabrics. The shirts combined iconic Hawaiian print designs with a modern, tailored fit.
The shirts were an instant hit with local Hawaiian men who were drawn to the authentic local style and exceptional comfort. Word soon spread among visitors who were delighted to find stylish, quality Hawaiian shirts rather than the typical tacky tourist shirts.
By 2010, Sslr® had built a loyal following and opened their first online store to share their Hawaii-inspired menswear with the world.
Focus on Quality
From day one, quality has been the driving focus at Sslr® Clothing. All of our shirts, pants, swim trunks, and other products are meticulously designed and constructed to the highest standards.
We source the most comfortable, durable fabrics including lightweight cotton, linen, and rayon blends. The materials keep you cool in warm climates while looking sharp.
Our Hawaiian print fabrics are specially designed in-house and digitally printed on demand to create unique, vibrant patterns. We also work with local Hawaiian artists to feature their original designs.
Once the materials are selected, we manufacture our products in Honolulu using expert local tailors. We oversee each step from pattern making to stitching to ensure flawless construction. The final products have a tailored, modern slim fit without sacrificing comfort.
Authentic Hawaiian Style
As Hawaiian locals, we are passionate about representing real Hawaiian style to the world. Each of our products from aloha shirts to board shorts captures the laidback, island vibe.
Our Hawaiian shirts feature classic prints like hibiscus flowers, palm trees, and aquatic themes. We use color palettes inspired by Hawaiian nature from lush rainforest greens to tropical sunset hues.
In addition to our signature Hawaiian shirts, we offer a full range of menswear essentials to complete the Aloha look. Our product lines include:

We also draw inspiration from other Polynesian islands. Our tiki, tribal, and tattoo prints are a nod to broader South Pacific style.
